Dog Collar

There are many different types of dog collars used in dog training aside from the standard dog collar. There is the choke chain collar which is useful in training a dog to heel. Whenever the dog gets too far from the owner, the collar constricts signaling the dog to return to its master’s side.

There is also the prong dog collar, which is similar in principle to the choke chain except that instead of throttling the dog, it gently pinches the neck. This innovation has been considered a more humane method of training. These collars may look more painful that the choke chain, they are actually much gentler.

Electronic dog collar use has recently become popular for training as well. These collars can remotely deliver a small electrical charge to the dog and have proven effective in treating a wide range of behavioral disorders. Nevertheless these collars can often due more harm than good and should only be used with the supervision of a qualified dog trainer.
