What dog is best with children?

The Newfoundland is widely regarded as the best dog breed for children. Even the Nanny in Peter Pan was a Newfoundland. They are gentle giants known for their sweetness and compassion as well as their tolerance for small children. They also have proven skills saving lives, especially if it’s a water rescue. They have soft jaws so they don’t really have the ability to bite hard but the sheer size of one is likely to make someone think twice before harming your children.

What is the smartest dog?

The Border collie is commonly considered to be the smartest of all dog breeds. These dogs are herding dogs and between their intelligence and their energy requirements require a lot of attention. They also tend to nip at people, especially if they have been neglected. This is part of their herding instinct and can be mitigated by giving the dog plenty of attention and exercise.

What is the most popular dog breed?

According to the 2008 AKC registration figures, The Labrador retriever, or Lab, is America’s most popular dog breed. These dogs are intelligent and affable and seem to possess a limitless amount of energy. They were bred as bird hunting dogs and love to retrieve anything that falls from the sky. Truly a loyal companion.
